Peter Astbury

Peter began his shipping career as  a gas and  chemical  shipbroker with Trafco (UK) before  spending five years as a  ship broker and ship agent in Manila with the Wallem Ship Management Group.

On returning to the UK in 1990 he joined Thomas Miller P&I (managers of the UK P&I Club), becoming a  Director and then in 1997 Area Director for the Club's substantial Japanese  membership.

Peter left Millers at the end of 2002 to work as an independent consultant on various  projects  before  establishing AMS in October  2004.

He was one of a small team of 'technical experts' advising the UN Secretary General's Special Representative for Somalia on Somali piracy, its origins and modus operandi.

Peter is an elected member of the International Institute of Strategic Studies Arundel House (IISS) in London.
